Pima County Master Gardener 2025 Application
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Pima County Master Gardener. Please read the following information about our program before you apply. Due to demand and our class size restrictions, not all applicants will be selected to become Master Gardeners. The University of Arizona is an equal opportunity, affirmative action institution. The University does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or sexual orientation in its programs and activities.

Master Gardeners are community educators who work with Cooperative Extension offices throughout the United States. Each state's land grant university oversees the Master Gardener program in that state. Here in Arizona, the Pima County Cooperative Extension (PCCE) and the Master Gardener program are part of the University of Arizona, Arizona's land-grant university. There are currently approximately 280 active Certified Master Gardener volunteers here in Pima County.

Mission statement: Arizona Master Gardeners are university-trained volunteers who serve as community educators. They work with the University of Arizona, providing research-based information on environmentally responsible gardening and landscaping to the public. After completing a semester-long course concentrating on gardening and the environment, Master Gardeners Associates volunteer to serve their communities.

Applicants selected to become Certified Master Gardeners must pay the non-refundable class fee of $350 and complete approximately 60 hours of classroom training beginning August 11th and continuing until the second week of December. Classes will be in-person and on-site. We will meet every Monday from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. Once the classroom training is completed, the intern period begins. The intern period allows you to gain hands-on experience and mentoring from other Master Gardeners. You must complete 50 hours of volunteer service before becoming a Certified Master Gardener.

To maintain Certified Master Gardener status, each volunteer must participate in 50 hours of approved service activities and complete 10 hours of continuing education training annually.

Can I annotate fields to indicate their intended use?

Yes. You can provide "Help" to your users for any field:

1. On any page in your application, click "Customize" then "Fields". If it is a multi-table application, select the table.

2. Click the "Edit" button next to the field for which you want to add an annotation.

3. In the "Help" text input box, enter text that will assist your users, and click "Save".

Your text will appear when the user hovers over or clicks on the question mark icon next to that field on the Add Record and Edit Record pages.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

    • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
    • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
